More than 100 students, faculty and industry professionals attended the Department of Physics’ and Great Lakes Energy Institute’s Quantum Workshop and Meet-up / Happy Hour at CWRU’s Tinkham Veale Center on the applications of quantum technology in devices, biology, medicine and computing. Welcomed by Professor of Physics, Department Co-chair Glenn Starkman, attendees explored ideas and heard talks on the following:
“What is quantum mechanics? Why is it of such great interest today?” Harsh Mathur, PhD, Professor of Physics
“How can quantum science lead to new technology?” Jesse Berezovsky, PhD, Associate Professor of Physics
“Applications in biology and medicine” Michael Hinczewski, PhD, Assistant Professor of Physics
“Quantum-inspired algorithms for medical imaging and healthcare” Mark Griswold, PhD, Professor, Dept. of Radiology, School of Medicine
“Keynote: Quantum Computing – making the quantum leap” Michael Flatté, PhD, University of Iowa
