A recent Art | Sci update from the Office of the Dean highlights work that Ken Singer, Ambrose Swasey Professor of Physics, Michael Hinczewski, Warren E. Rupp Associate Professor of Physics, Ina Martin, Director of the MORE Center and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, and Elizabeth Bolman, Elsie B. Smith Professor in the Liberal Arts and Chair of the Department of Art History and Art, have done in the field of data science.Â
Their current project involves applying machine learning methods to high-resolution 3D scans of the surfaces of paintings in order to attribute stylistic components of brushwork to artists.
